Hobo, physician and anarchist, Ben Reitman (1879-1942) was an advocate for the disadvantaged in Chicago and throughout the country. Reitman left school at age ten to become a hobo. He tramped around the U.S., panhandling and riding the rails until he returned to Chicago and took a job as a laboratory boy. In 1900, he was admitted to the College of Physicians and Surgeons. C. Collins, 1898-19--, was born in Balmain, N.S.W. He enlisted in July 1918 served in the Pacific with the Samoan Relief Party during the Spanish influenza epidemic, then in England, and re-enlisted in the A.I.F. during the World War 1939-1945. Emma Goldman (1869-1940) was an anarchist, feminist, author, editor, and lecturer on politics, literature and the arts. She was born in Lithuania and died in Canada.
